Elizabeth is a mixed-media artist: who uses drawing, wood- -.. carving, painting on large self- “made natural backgrounds. She specializes in print-making and ~ drawing, and has instructed in both, Elizabeth is presently ; preparing for a one-woman a show at the Forest City Gallery “in London, Ontario. Although -this is her first time to Terrace, - she has juried shows before. She says the most exciting part of -»' jurving is to finally meet the ar- -< tists after getting to know their -. works so well during the jurying | process. . ~~ Keith Wallace is one of the ”-eurators of the Vancouver Art Gallery. Painting and B.C. art are his special interests. He deals . “with all media including photos, *~ yideo, sculpture and painting in his work as curator, which he ~ has done for nine years. He started out in Sechelt and has done jurying for four years. — Keith doesn’t get many oppor- - tunities to go out to the smaller - and more isolated communities. .. He feels it is important to get a feel for the art everywhere. He personally likes art that engages : him and keeps him interested. ‘‘I look for things that delight my eye and get my brain working. If . Lam over-powered by one or the -. other characteristic, I might not ~- choose it.” Keith says he doesn’t trust his first impressions. He prefers works that keep niggling at him. ~ On April 10, Elizabeth and Keith met with the artists, the - Art ‘Association and the _ Regional Arts Council in the Art _. Gallery. They explained the ad- ~ judication process, discussed the works and gave reasons for their decisions.
