The association is affiliated with the BMSAC which controls the sport nationaily, turn a member of the IBMXF the world wide governing body. So that position to benefit frem the help available from these associations. get back to your cwn municipality:-you are aware I'm sure of the recent proliferation of celorful 20" wheeled bicycles in your neighborhood, thege then are BMX bicycles and as such:are the ones used in vacing over short, but testing, usually dirt, twisting and undulating tracks something like the illustration that follows. te looks like fun and it is, such that when the track becomes part of the growing newvotk of tracks developed all over Canada, the kids racing on it develop a long term interest in competing in the sport. I'd like to poine out that although the kids can, and do, stunt and race around on Vacant lots, ete. without the incentive of being part of a district, provincial and national program there is.no real incentive to keep them interested and past events have proved this out. The sport is already a part of the Alberta summer games and is being looked at for this distinction in B.C., as well as other provinces. While the Ganada Games people are also looking favorably at the sport for a future event. The association offers their assistance to help you with track design and layouc, to help you train people to run the race Meetings and in general provide the informaticn you may be nissing to get an overall pictura of what BMX racing entails. A loe of time and hard work has gone into putting the association together, formulating rules, contacting existing tracks, and would be tracks across Canada, and in general trying to provide an ideal competitive environment for Gevelopment and growth of BMX races as a national sport. continued on Page Two.
