My contemporary work is a potent mix of humour and an- ger that promotes a sense of dialogue and contributes to social and cultural change by challenging the viewer to re- consider racist social and material practices that are champi- oned by the dominant culture. The lard pails, aerosol spray cans, and soup cans are every- day objects that have had their labels reworked or are deal- ing with actual incidents that I have experienced. They are containers that operate to challenge assumptions and nega- tive stereotypes that are championed by the mainstream public.
