The new show, presented Oct. 2-3 in a cabaret setting (alcohol served before, dur- ing and alter the show) in the Skeena Room of the Terrace Inn, will feature stand-up comedians Brian Stollery and Cris Nan- narone, Stollery has been -profes- sionally touring for six years, Most recently he appeared on CBC radio comedy pro- gram Madly off in all Direc- Hons, hosted by Lome El- liot. , Stollery’s act is best de- scribed as topical, thought- provoking and down right funny. His material is clean to risque, but never vulgar, ‘In his show there’s a lot of impreve and interplay with the audience,’ said TLT'’s Gordon Oats, who saw Stollery perform in Kamloops two weeks ago. “Tt was a great show,”’ Topics Stollery pokes fun at include everything from marriage, sports and politics to sceing eye dogs, shower caps and surgical opera- tions. His observations are unique and original. Comedian, writer and ac- tor, Cris Nannarone, has been performing for 13 years. He's popular because he patterns much of his comic material around bimself. CONTRIBUTED THE FIRST MEETING since the summer recess for mem- bers of Branch #73 of the B.C. Old Age Pensioners Orga- nization was held Thursday, Sept. 10 in the Happy Gang Centre, President Hugh Power, was in the chair and 47 members attended. A minutes silence was observed for two members who passed away this summer. A review of all summer events reported were very enjoy- able. A thank you was extended to the pancake breakfast kitchen crew and also to the float committee for its time and effort. An expression of appreciation was also made to the host and hostess of the picnic and barbecue. Many activities are scheduled for this fall for anyone in- terested in participating. Crib nights will be held every Tuesday starling at 7:30 p-m. Bridge is played Thursday afternoons. Anyone interested in playing carpet bowling and floor curling should contact Mary Ann Dilley at the centre for meet niore information. A potluck supper is planned for October 30. A consensus of opinions expressed at the last meet- ing concluded that members preferred to stay at their pres- ent Jocalion. Fran Lindstrom was chosen to express the in- put of members at the community meeting Sept. 30. A motion was made to replace the present floor carpet with tiles and that a grant for this project Se applied from the Seniors’ Lotiery. The maintenance committee asked to look into the con- struction of shelving for the office and bars for the ‘women’s washroom. It was decided that members will observe the 80th and 90th birthdays of fellow members. The next meeting will be held at 2 p.T. Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Happy Gang Centre.
