During the spring break up it may be .
necessary to impose load restrictions on some
Highways, pursuant to Section 27 of the High-
way Act. These restrictions may be imposed
on short notice and trucking and transportation
companies should govern themselves accord-
ingly, and are requested to take advantage of
the present road conditions.

The restrictions will limit the exle loads
of trucks and buses.

Vehicles with solid tires will be prohibited
from using the Highways.

Top Ranking Official
To Address Teachers

The department of. education is
sending one of its’ top ranked offi-
clals to the North Coast Teachers’
Convention to be held in Prince
Rupert on March 16, 11 and 12,

Mr. J. .R, Meredith, assistant
superintendent of Education ‘in
charge of instruction will speak
to the secondary teachers, He will
discuss “Where Secondary Educa-
tion is Going.”

For the past ten years Mr. Mere-
dith has occupied key posts with
the department and has . been
very infiuencial in the develop-
ment of the present curriculum
taught in B.C. schools,

Mr. Meredith joins Dr, L. P.
Sampson, Professor R. Baker and
Mr. K. Aitchison as a major par-
ticipant in this convention.

It is expected that some 300
amateur groups from across Can-
ada will perform at Expo 67, They
will appear in five band shells
dotted throughout the Exhibition
grounds, Choral groups, dancers,
bands and specialty acts will all
take part. The Expo Corporation
wants to give talented young Cana-
dians a chance to show what they
can do in an international atmos-
phere,

It’s my happy assignment this
week to introduce the fine teach-
er and musician, Mrs. Phyllis
Schuldt, who will adjudicate ail
the Music Arts in the Terrace
Music Festival, March 23 - 26.

Mrs, Schuldt was born in Lon-
don, England of a musical family
and came as a child to Canada
where she received early training
with Gertrude Huntly Green and
Jan Cherniavsky. She returned to
London as a scholarship student
at the Royal College of Music,
where she studied with Harold
Samuel and Arthur Benjamin and
specialized in lieder playing with
Madame Scnnobel,

On returning to Canada she did
some solo work but now special
izes in ensemble music, concen-
trating on four hand piano litera-
ture.

Mrs. Schuldt has had great suc-
cess as a teacher and is at present
a member of the music faculty at
UEC, teaching piano. For the last
15 years she has been adjudicat-
ing at music festivals throughout
B.C. as well as in Alberta and
Washington.
