The Expo Corporation wants to give talented young Cana- dians a chance to show what they can do in an international atmos- phere, Festival highlights Marylin Davies | It’s my happy assignment this week to introduce the fine teach- er and musician, Mrs. Phyllis Schuldt, who will adjudicate ail the Music Arts in the Terrace Music Festival, March 23 - 26. Mrs, Schuldt was born in Lon- don, England of a musical family and came as a child to Canada where she received early training with Gertrude Huntly Green and Jan Cherniavsky. She returned to London as a scholarship student at the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Harold Samuel and Arthur Benjamin and specialized in lieder playing with Madame Scnnobel, On returning to Canada she did some solo work but now special izes in ensemble music, concen- trating on four hand piano litera- ture. Mrs. Schuldt has had great suc- cess as a teacher and is at present a member of the music faculty at UEC, teaching piano. For the last 15 years she has been adjudicat- ing at music festivals throughout B.C. as well as in Alberta and Washington.
