Dempster picked up a puck from Norm MacFarlane at his own blueline, and raced up the ice but his shot on goal was deflected by the fast working Hazelton goal- tender, Hazelton came charging back but their play was broken up by the hard-rock defence of Doug Kroetch and Lance Bennie, Buck Bennie, finding himself with a homefree ‘puck tripped and fell to the ice losing it to Ed Stan- ick and Hamulka who whipped away with a 3 on 2 break and fore- ed their way to the Hazelton goal. Once again Hazelton netminder stopped the shot. Over the boards came Frank O’Brien and Milt Malmgren on de- fence and Keith Malmgren, Reg Dempster and Norm McFarlane on the front line. The puck came out to Milt Malmgren at the blueline and he fired a greaser that deflect- ed in off the netminder’s pads. From the face-off, the play was forced in again and Hazelton's Don Spooner was bowled aver, Motz broke his stick on a slap shot and the puck came out to Milt Malmgren again.
