RACKGROUNDs

This application is for the davelopmant of an 11,310 square feet community
oriented shopping centre at 865 Citade) Drive. The proposal was the subject
o£ a previous Rezoning and Development Permit. A Public Hearing for that
application was held on April 5, 1993. After heaving opposition from a number
of area residents, the Municipal Council defeated Third Reading on the

amending By~Law.

A new application for the same proposal waa received on March 8, 1994
after the applicant concluded that there was sufficient community support for

a retail commercial davalopment at this location.

On Monday April 25, 1994 the Municipal Council approvad to proceed the
project and inatructed that a Public Information Meeting be organized by the
developer, prior to introduction of the eauthocizing Rezoning Bylaw.

PUBLIC ONFORMATION MEETINGS

The Public Information Meeting waa attended by 200 to 240 people.
Although no formal vote was held, at one point in the meeting people in favour
of the proposal stood up; no formal count was taken however the numbers are

epproximately as follows:
