siren 3 SOME E as MEMO TO COUNCTL % 26 1988 B.R. Kirk September 22, 1988 City Administrator T.M. Chong, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Replacement of Storm Sewers ~ Vivian Place to Citadel Drive (Public Works Committee Meeting - September 13, 1988) Recommendation: That the broken sections of storm sewer between Vivian Place and Citadel Drive be replaced for the estimated cost of $11,000 and that the final cost be funded from the 1988 Unallocated Public Works Capital Budget. B mts: Early results of our recent video inspections of storm sewers revealed that approximately 65 meters of pipe have either badly cracked or collapsed. The damaged sewers are located within a right-of-way running across the Ben Arnold townhouse site in the northwest corner of Citadel Drive and Pitt River Road (see attached sketch). The estimated cost of replacing these sewers is $11,000. There is some definite urgency to replace these sections of sewers. The proposed townhouse site has been totally cleared now. The developer's contractor is progressing towards the completion of internal servicing for the townhouses including the construction of roads over the sewer right-of-way. We must therefore replace the broken sewers prior to the paving of on-site roads. Also, before the clearing of the land and the building of townhouses, water escaping from these proken storm sewers did not create much of a problem. With the recent completion of Phase i of the townhouse clusters on this property, there is a good potential for property damage due to flooding if the replacement of the broken sewer pipes are not completed before the rainy season this year. For these reasons, the Public Works Committee supports the recommendation. —- va a / TMC/al T.M, Chong; P=} tng. , City Engineer ) é x Attachment(1) City Treasurer's Comments: Funds are available 1388 5 p a the recommendation.
