From His Worship Mayor C, Tingley, Town of Quesnel, being a telegram Town of Quesnel re received at 10:45 a.m., Thursday, June 3rd, 1976, soliciting the support back to work , legislation- of the Council, City staff, and members of the Community in requesting BC Rail emp~ their local M.L.A. or Cabinet Minister to urge the Provincial Government roves to immediately legislate the B.C. Railway employees back to work, and advising that a letter is to follow. Human Res. re | May 20th, 1976, setting forth a letter dated May 17th, 1976, that was written add.monthly per capita ay to the Minister of Human Resources, The Honourable W.N. Vander Zaln, charges — ‘Haque concerning the additional monthly per capita charges for social welfare fare which will be mede effective April lst, 1976, and urging all members affected by these added costs review the letter's content and express their individual concerns to the Minister as soon 48 possible, so that the Minister can be fully aware of the impact of the changes. A letter from The Honourable W.N. Vander Zalm, Minister of Human Rer rces, May 21st, 1976, concerning the per capita municipal share of social assistance costs for 1976/77 was also received, and explaining that this year's budget therefore is up considerably due to inflation and several proposed, but quite necessary increases in benefits, resulting in an increase from $1.30 to $1.55 per capita per month. The Minister, in his letter, also advised that most municipal jurisdictions in the Province have annually paid 60¢ per capita in lieu of administration costs for social service delivery, ‘ened and this year, instead of a Separate billing system, it was decided to add 5¢ per month and eliminate one administrative procedure. Alderman Ranger pointed out that this increase amounts to 23% ~ well in excess of the 10% allowable under the Anti-Inflation guidelines that the City has been endeavouring to keep within.
