A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on January llth, 1982. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay, Aldermen M.D. Gates, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, A.K. Muldoon, D.J. Vater and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer B. Kirk, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer F,E. Peters, P. Eng., Assistant City Engineer T. Chong, P. Eng., City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland, Director of Planning W. Brown, and Recording Secretary D. Vyse. Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam who then made a presentation to Council regarding their proposal for a Kinsmen Community Building. Mr. McLean referred to plans posted on the board and advised the proposed building would have a large meeting area of 2,000 square feet which would seat 165 people and that it is designed for future expansion and advised the building would have a conference room, kitchen facilities, bar facilities and storage area for pre-school equipment and would be located just south of the swimming pool in Aggie Park. Alderman Gates suggested moving the conference room area shown on the plan forward and separating the area from the washroom area so the public could have access to the washroom area. Mr. McLean advised this would require an additional 300 square feet and they could not afford the additicnal cost. Alderman Muldoon enquired regarding adding a second floor in the future and Mr. M. Charko, structural designer for the building, advised the foundation was not planned for a second storey.
