Alderman Traboulay proposed that the Mayors of Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster be condemned ‘for recent statements on rapid transit “but Mayor ‘Campbell advised he is attending a meeting on Tuesday, January 24th, 1978 on this subject and at his request further discussion was deferred. Alderman Traboulay advised his concern arose out of the fact that the proposal of the three Mayors would not provide service to outlying areas. Alderman Laking advised Council the Recreation Department's Fitness Day was a success and 900 people attended. Alderman Laking advised the Parks Department will soon be planting evergreens from the City nursery on Ryan Street as a buffer strip. Alderman Laking advised that the Council has not yet received a’ report on the reconstruction of Prairie Avenue and Coast Meridian Road as had ‘been requested. Alderman Laking asked City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng. when the report on the Coquitlam River crossing would be available and Mr. Borch advised that a report on the requirements of Provincial authorities was expected at an early date. ‘'« Alderman Thompson inquired’ concerning the condition of Centennial Pool; as last year it had to be closed because of a leak. City Engineer -V.G. Borch, ‘P.: Eng. advised work is ‘being completed by the Parks Department to remedy the leak and Alderman Thompson asked that a report be given to Council next week on the pool.
