Re: Property Sales to the Department of Highways

The Community Development Committee met on Friday, February 13th, 1976
and discussed a number of Land Sale Items.

One item that the Committee would like Council to give consideration to
is the sale of a number of small pieces of property on the Lougheed Highway
to the Department of Highways for widening purposes and also the sale to
the Department of Highways of a portion of the property recently purchased
by the City ~ north of the Highway - in the vicinity of the new Shaughnessy
Street alignment (Haines property). :

There are a number of maps attached showing the locations of these parcels
of land. The Department of Highways has offered to pay $1.45 per square
foot for all the land being acquired. This was in agreement with the
price that was negotiated for the Haines property and is also consistent
with other prices paid along the Highway to other private owners.

The total land area involved in the smaller parcels of land is 6,735 square
feet and the portion of the Haines property required by the Department of
Highways is 22,695 square feet. The total dollar value of the sales to the
Department of Highways is $42,673.00.

As the Department of Highways is proceeding fairly rapidly now, with Tender
Call for the Highway Widening Construction, they would like to have these
sales confirmed and the Community Development Committee recommends that the
parcels be sold to the Department of Highways as outlined above for a
total amount of $42,673.00.
