Report on Dogs - ‘Alderman P.A. Meyer — cont'd. Page - 5 = In closing, I believe that the system as presented represents a series of cheeks and balances. I would therefore request that the recommendations be considered jointly. I recommend: 1. That impounding fees and violation notices be increased to a flat $20.00, plus a further $20.00, i£ the complaint is unsuccessfully challenged in court, plus the license fee if the dog is unlicensed. That an additional 1/2 man year of man and vehicle service be purchased from the S.P.C.A. at an annual cost of $4,500.00, and that an increnental payment of $1,500.00 be made forthwith, subject to successful passage of the sane resolution in Port Moody. That vigilence be exercised re spayed dogs at licensing time, That. the present "patrol" system of enforcement be replaced by a “cruise and respond” system. That a program for public information and participation be undertaken, ‘I Council wishes this proposal to go to Public Hearing, I would not object. I would also recommend as a separate item that the Parks and Recreation | Committee consider making fenced dog run areas a part of vur park system.
