Keep French immersion Dear Sir: Tam a 15-year-old student in Grade 9 at Skeena Jr, Secondary School and | have been enrolled in-Terrace’s French immersion program since kindergarten. 1 belicye that sinee [ live in a bi- lingual country, I should be offered an opportunity to learn and understand both spoken languages. We have been through many diffi- culties in our education before, but never too hard that we couldn’t get through them. Some of these difficul- ties were because the school board thought they couldn’t support the French immersion students any longer, but we have always managed to keep this program working and running. I feel that il is unjust to take this great educational opportunity away from us, especially since we have worked so hard for so long. Lam in French immersion because [ enjoy speaking and understanding an- other language, and 1 know that being bilingual will help me in my career options. If they cancel this program, my abi- lity to speak and write in French will diminish. J want to be proud to call myself bilingual, but I cannot have any pride knowing that I could still learn more, and that I should have learned more. We should not be denied the best education possible. Canada is one of the very few coun- tries that offers a bilingual education, and T would-like to stay a part of that wonderful offer. So please look past the coins and the bills, and lock into eyes eager for more knowledge. Leaha Broome,.Terrace, B.C. When the school board mide - Stop in ond pick up your 4 page brochure.
