a Coffee time CITY COUNCILLOR Ron Vanderlee pours a wel- come cup of hal coffee for Peggy Julseth of the Terrace Anti-Poverty Group Society at an all-night campout Oct. 18 in front of city hall. A small group of people gathered pledges for the local emergency - shelter in return for staying outside overnight to highlight the need for more affordable housing. The city is asking other municipalities to urge the provincial and the federal governments to increase monies to combat homelessness in general. The provincial government is also being asked to in- crease specificially the shelter allowance portion of social assistance payments in areas where housing is expensive so as not to place an undue burden on people who also have to buy food and other ne- cessities.
