The branch, as is the case already with ones in Smithers and in Kitimat, is limiting the hours in which customers can deal with tel- lers for deposits and with- drawals. Bank of Montreal official Marilyn Koen says the new hours reflect a growing use of electronic, telephone and other kinds of banking. Teller transactions will be restricted to 11 am. to 3 p.m. by the end of June No jobs or employee hours will be affected by the change, Koen said. But while there will be restrictions on teller service, the branch itself will be open more hours than it is now, Koen added. “Right now the branch is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, but when the hours change it will be 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,’” she said. The extra opening hours The Heighington family business goes back 128 years to 1875 when Great Grandfather James Herbert Heighington joined the British Royal Navy and was put to work in the ship’s laundry, After leaving the Navy in 1912, James immigrated to Canada and open a laundry in Wetaskiwin, Alberta and two years later, opened another laundry in Camrose, Alberta. In 1921, James, his brother Frank and son Herbert became partners in Superior Laundry in Edmonton, Alberta. Hebert was killed in an accid- ent at the laundry, leaving the younger generation to carry on the business. Herbert’s son Norm and his wife, Grace, started Superior Laundry in Prince George, BC in 1948. Norm’s son Ken, working with his father, decided to start his own business and now has three locations named Spotless Cleaners, Norm and Grace moved to Terrace in 1963 and started Time Cleaners and Laundry. Time Cleaners and Laundry wag the first in the northwest to start a eoverall and uniform rental business serving Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, and Hazelton, After 24 years in Terrace and over 50 years in the business, Norm retired from the laundry business and his sons John and Bryon took over in 1987, naming the business Superior Linen. Over the last 11 years, John and Bryon have expanded into three locations that employs more than 20 people. At Superior Linen ail washing machines have been replaced with larg- er, more efficient machines using less water per pound, processing over 4,000 pounds of laundry per day. At Superior Linen they have a wide range of services and products for rental. Coveralls, table linen, door mats, wipers, cook whites, bar towels. In the coverall side, the busi- ness has over 20 different colors and various blends of materials to choose from. Also for purchase are down quilts and pillows, coveralls, uniforms, bed linen and towels at prices that are very reasonable. In the processing end of the laundry, Superior Linen serves hotels, camps and restaurants with a high quality product, making your bedding clean, bright and fresh. This is done by large modern washers full size mangle and folder that presses and folds sheets at 400 sheets per hour. With three delivery vans serv- ing Terrace, Kitimat and the Hazeltons, Superior Linen can give you fast, effi- cient service. At Richard’s on Emerson; acquired in 1991, the laundromat equipment has been completely replaced with larger and more efficient dryers and washers, You can do your own laundry from small items to quilts and sleeping bags using their large 85 pound washers and 50 pound dryers for cleaner and fresher clothing. While waiting for your laundry watch your favorite television program on the color television or have a tan in their stand up tanning booth with relaxing music to listen to, If you are traveling through, you can have a refreshing shower in a clean and bright shower room.
