Old Age Pensioners Organi- zation held their monthly membership meeting Thurs- day, June 13 in the Happy Gang Centre, with the presi- dent, Hugh Power, in the chair. About 50 members at- tended, Before the meeting slatted, Tess Brusseau gave a brief description of ‘the children’s book she plans: to publish on the history and life of the Kermode Bear - sometimes called ‘‘the spirit bear.’’ ; Returning to the business of the meeting, a vote of “Thanks’? was extended to the men members who catered for a membership supper to honaur ‘‘Mothers' Day” on May 15, Convenors of the kitchen and supplies committees reported all was well but that before the September membership meeting con- sideration be given towards providing refreshments for membership meetings. A motion was made ex- pressing a vote of ‘‘thanks”’ to the ladies who gave their time and effort to sewing a beautiful quilt to be raffled atthe fall bazaar in Novem- ber. Muriel Michicl and her committee reported visiting several sick members. A motion was made that a committee be formed and given the authorization to act on a replacement of the gas hot water heater to elec- tric. A committee was formed, and $100 will be provided for the decorating of a float © for the Riverboat Days Pa- rade, A motion was made to donate $100 to the B.C.0.A.P.0. Scholarship Fund. Dick was a boom-man, and he first went to work for Skeena = River — Timber, booming logs on the Skeena river. Laler he worked for Riv-Tow, operating a tug boat on the Nass River. Eveutually Dick ended up with Mac Gillis and Gibbs, falling poles. He retired in 1982, I'm sure many people re- member Fran from her days working at Terrace Drug on Kalum St, And of course while living in Terrace, daughter Holly was bom.
