Maitland Date: February 16, 1994 City Treasurer/Deputy Administrator File: Bylaw Amendmerts Carlos Felip Director of Planning Parking Requirements for Schools Awendzents to "Development Management Bylaw, 1987 No. 2242 Planning and Development Committee — February 15, 1994 RECOMMENDATION : That the Municipal Clerk be instructed to prepare a Bylaw to amend "Development Management Bylaw, 1987, No. 2242" to incorporate the following change to Section 6 (i): "Schools, Public or Private: (i) Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle High Schools 1 for each 10 Students. (ii) Secondary Highschools Staff and Visitors 1 for each 10 Students. Student Parking 1 for each 8 Students." BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: The existing parking requirements for schools as outlined in "Development Management Bylaw, 1987, No.2242" are as follows: 6.(i) Schools, Public or Private: (i) Kindergartens, Elementary and Junior High Schools 1 for each Staff Member. (ii) Senior High Schools 1 for each Staff Member, Plus one for each 10 Students. The existing parking standards for schools are now considered inadequate to meet current parking needs. Revigs i he Parking Bylaw are therefore needed to update the requirements 2 system.
