THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM 0 [| N C MEMORANDUM : a JUL 10 497g TO: _Mayor and ‘Council July 7th, 1978 ‘ FROM: Public Works Committee Re: Improvements to Intersection of Prairie Avenue & Coast Meridian Road The Committee has reviewed the proposed improvements to the above intersection as recommended by the City Engineer and has had a meeting at the site with some of the local merchants to receive their comments on the proposals. This report is to he read with reference to the large scale plan “posted on the wall at the Council Chamber. The proposed changes are divided into those which can be done immediately and those which must be Left for some time in the future because implementation will require relo~ cation of poles or buildings. The following changes are pro- posed: ‘A. . Immediate Changes 1. Removal of the raised island on Coast Meridian north of Prairie. 2. Creation of separate left turn lanes and two through lanes on the north and south sides of the intersection. 3. Removal of parking on the east side of Coast Meridian north of Prairie. 4. Removal of parking on the south side of Prairie west of Coast Meridian to the end of the commercial development. . 5. A change of signal timing to allow longer green on Prairie to compensate for more approach lanes on Coast Meridian. , @. Paving of the island on the southeast corner and provision of curb let-downs to give pedestrian protection and allow wheelchairs to cross the island. 7. Some additional traffic signs. 8. Painting of a crosswalk at Salisbury Avenue on west side of Coast Meridian. . Future Changes . cy t i.
