He got here in time to see new ,Copper River trail within a few days of completion... Mr. Wells, who made such spectacular success of Cariboo Gold Quartz, has been working in this district for about a year, and last spring before the snow. was off, gat tnder way with a fourteen mile trail to the Dardenelles group up the Copper river, An old trapping and prospecting trail ran up valley, but he ‘did not like it for tak ing In machinery he needed for the operation of the Omineca Gold Quartz Co, Ltd, so he decided to build from the ground up, and started aut by con structing a trail that would allow his transportation to work on an efficient basis. «A base camp was establihed on the north side of the Copper close to the highway bridge. The biggest pro hlem he had to face was a pad rock point two mniles along the trail. This in the opinion of Mr. Sangster, who neted as mannger the first part of the senson. “Locked up the Valley”. The old trail at this point was too steep for hatlaze work and a new trail was’ con structed round the point by hidwing masses of the rock into the river. With the trail completed it is ex pected that active operations on the Thirdenelles group will be under way in the very near future. This work has-taken up -quite-a-number of men. for several months; dnd has gone far in keeping the unemployment lists low in this district. The trail will-be of srent advantage .to other prospectors and operators in the district, as it haa opened tp the big valley of the Copper and given access to the other proper ties that now will be-able to recelre consideration. Mr. Wells had n lone article in the Western Canada Mining News recent lv in which he drew the attention of “moneyed men in the south to the rich wossibilities of the north. He pointed ont to them that they knew nothing of the country, not like Edmonton, Winni peg aml other enstern: cities. The paper in the sume issue had a Jong editorial wong the same Hnes as Mr. Wells irticle. and urged the south to, get on the job nnd learn ahout the big pro ' vince ontside of their own little corner, THE PRESENTATION DANCE - ———e The presentation dance and, bridge given by the Hazelton.
