THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C ยข UJ N C | [ MEMORANDUM APR 19 1982 TO: B. Kirk, April 13, 1982 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters, City Engineer SUBJECT: Tenders for Replacement Flat Deck Trucks RECOMMENDATION: That the lowest acceptable tender from Pacific G.M.C. Ltd. in the amount of $23,607.09 be approved for the two vehicles to be purchased with Replacement Reserve Funds. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Six tenders for the two vehicles were received as indicated in the attached recap sheet. These are all General Motors products as they are the only ones at the present time who produce a crew cab. In analysing the tenders, we have noted that none of the tenders meet the City's G.V.W. rating specification of 11,000 lbs. However, three tenders (Town Centre Chev, Westminster Chev and Pacific G.M.C.) do consist of vehicles with G.V.W. ratings of 10,500 lbs. Although these vehicles have marginally lower G.V.W.. ratings than specified, we find them acceptable since they meet or exceed all other City specifications. Of these three acceptable tenders, Pacific G.M.C. Ltd.'s tender of $23,607.09 for the two vehicles is the lowest. The remaining tenders, although in two cases are slightly lower than the tender submitted by G.M.C. Ltd., are not recommended for acceptance since they consist of vehicles of lower G.V.W. ratings, smaller engines and less robust construction. We attempted to get a price for the vehicles with factory built propane conversions but these are not available. We will have to decide whether to do a local conversion when we receive the vehicles. The amount allowed in the budget for these two vehicles is $29,000 which is also to include a dump body for one of the vehicles. The dump body will he tendered separately. The lowest acceptable tender of $23,607.09 is bel w the City,'s estimate and we recommend that the ee Y- Ma proved. 4 F.E. Peters, 3 City Engineer
