THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM Page two... 4, The Foreman at the arena indicates that it will take two days to get the ice out of the old arena and another two to three days to dry. In past years lacrosse has opened their season with a jamboree the weekend prior to League play. They have used this jamboree for a fund raising function for their sport, however this would not be possible for 1981, . Operating costs for the 1981 Bantam Tournament are: Maintenance Staff Regular day $770 Good Friday 2,750 Concession Regular day 148 + supplies Good Friday 517 + supplies It is difficult on a stat holiday to break even with concession due to the high cost of salaries, ‘ The Committee have met on two occasions with both the Bantam Tournament and Minor Lacrosse people and have discussed:several alternatives. However, the Bantam Tournament people will not accept the recommenda- tion of the Parks & Recreation Committee and feel that in order for their tournament to be successful they must run from April 14th through to April 18th, 1981. The Committee recommendation is: 1, That the Bantam Tournament run From April 10th to April 16th, 1981, 2. That on April l4th the ice be taken out of the old arena and prepared 'for lacrosse to be ready on either April 2lst or 22nd, 1981. In order to have the arena floor dry the City will have to rent heaters to '. @peed up the drying process. 3. That the Bantam Tournament continue their tournament in the new arena only after April 13th, 1981 to April 16th, 1981, There will be representatives from Minor Lacrosse, Junior and Intermediate Lacrosse and the Bantam Tournament Committee tonight to discuss the situa~ tion with City Council.
