March 24th, 1975 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on March 24th, 1975 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, M.A. Thompson and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, and Fira Chief W.S. Wingrove, CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Laking: Minutes - Mar.17/75 Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on March 17th, 1975, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: From the City Engineer, March 14th, 1975 being his report on the City Eng.re Garbage Dis recommended content of a proposed new Garbage Disposal By-law for the B/law,etc. City. This report had been discussed by the Council last week and was deferred until this time so that particular attention could be given to the financial aspect thereof. on the scale of charges imposed by private collection firms would be. available in approximately two weeks time and a short discussion ensued as to whether or not garbage collection charges should be included in the Mill Rate or should be a special separate charge but no conclusion was reached. It was agreed that the subject would await a further report from the Public Works Committee, expected in two weeks time, subject to further discussion on the financial aspects during Budget sessions, Alderman Mabbett referred to the very untidy situation that obviously exists on some commercial premises with respect to garbage collection, Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the Administration be instructed to take the necessary steps to correct the present unsatisfactory garbage pick-up situation that exists at certain commercial premises in the City with a view to making the collection system more efficient. Carried. Prior to passage of the resolution quoted above the City Engineer advised that without a proper Garbage Collection By-law to refer to the enforcement of pickup standards was very difficult.
