Reference is made tu the following Council Resolutions: December 13th, 1973: "That the incoming Traffic and Public Works Committee review the Mary Hill Road ~ Pitt River Road intersection and, if feasible, monies be allocated in the Provisional Budget for 1974 to install a traffic signal light at that location." May 13th, 1974: "That a pedestrian-activated light be installed at the Pitt River Road ~ McLean Avenue intersection as soon as possible; and if the Provincial Department of Highways has not agreed to participate in the costs thereof by June 30th, 1974, that the entire cost be borne by the’City." June 3rd, 1974: "That the Public Works Committee be directed to investigate the traffic light situation at Pitt River Road and Shaughnessy Street; also, the possibility of installing a traffic light at McLean Avenue - Pitt River Road intersection." The Committee would like to advise Council of the following: 1. The Assistant City Engineer in accordance with the above resolutions and as part of the Major Street Study has been working on these intersections, 2. A Traffic Engineering Consultant (Zoltan Kuun) has been retained and is reviewing the Assistant City Engineer's work as well as obtaining the most recent information from the Department of Highways. 3. A meeting with the Traffic Consultant is slated for the first week in July to discuss the Major Streets Study, the intersections in question, and the Lougheed - Shaughnessy intersection. The Mayor and the Committee Chairman have informally agreed that improvements to the Secondary Highway should be limited at this time to the Pitt River Road = McLean intersection and the Pitt River Road - Shaughnessy intersection, The Committee recommends that every attempt be made to obtain Department of Highways agreement to pay 100% of the cost because of the inevitable diversion of Lougheed Highway traffic during the widening construction, It is requested by the Committee that Council endorse the above on the basis that it is not inconsistent with previous Council resclutions with the exception of the reference in the May 13th, 1974 Resolution to agreement by the Department of Highways by June 30th, 1974.
