Travelling Salon was displayed in the Skeena Mall. The PPOBC is an affiliate of Professional Photographers of Canada Inc. Their philosophy is, "Photogra- phy is both an art and a profession. This symbolizes the concept of the Professional Photographers of Canada Inc. The PPOC is an or- ganization dedicated to foster and promote professional photography in Canada. PPOC members main- tain high standarcls of artistic tech- nique and business ethics." Arresting images attracted the attention of passers-by in the Skeena Mall last week. A travelling display of the best from B.C.’s professional photographers stopped in Terrace on a tour of the province, with works that included a contribution by Terrace’s Al Richardson. Local photographer Al Richard- son of Photowork Studios was honoured for the first time with his winning entry "Can’t wait “til I’m 13” touring throughout the prov- ince as one of 89 photographs in the exhibit. Both Richardson and fellow professional photographer John Roders had works separate from the salon displayed at the exhibit. . The only other area photographer represented in the Travelling Salon was Smithers’ Haide Sackow with two photos, Hudson Bay Mountain and Girl Talk. Eve of Destruction Starring Renee Soutendijk, Gre- gory Hines. Produced by David Madden, Directed by Duncan Gibbins, Rating: R. Running time: 102 minutes. Dr, Eve Simmons (Soutendijk), a robotics engineer, has spent years working towards perfecting the ultimate battlefield weapon — a robot that is a perfect blending of machine and human intelli- gence. Simmons finally realizes success with the development of Eve-8 (Soutendijk), a robot that is an almost exact copy of herself, both physically and mentally. Simmons built just about every- thing imaginable into Eve-8, ~ including a nuclear weapon. The robot is almost indestructible. The only thing the good doctor forgot to give her new toy is an off switch, a small oversight which she will later regret. Federal agent Jim McQuade (Hines) is called in to track down Eve-8 after the robot gets shot during a bank holdup and auto- matically goes into battlefield " Video reviews 5 by Harriett Fjaagesund mode. Something is her circuitry is messed up but good because no one can seem to stop her. At best, this is second rate sci- fi. The Comfort of Strangers Starring Christopher Walken, Natasha Richardson, Rupert Everett, Helen Mirren, Produced by Angelo Rizzoli. Directed by Paul Schrader. Rating: R. Run- ning time: 102 minutes. Colin and Mary (Richardson and «° Everett) are a pair of young lovers: whose biggest concern is whether or not they should get married, But before taking that long walk down the aisle, they decide to travel to Venice, Italy to test the strength of their love. Then while in Venice they take a wrong turn one day, in more ways than one. They are befriend- ed by Caroline and Robert (Mir- rin and Walkin), a mysterious Venetian couple who both repel and fascinate them. Colin and Mary’soon find themselves help- lessly drawn into a forbidden netherworld of dark sexuality and murder.
