The contractor is recycling almost everything. It’s a fascinating process. The students will study this project next year and our school will be a certified “Green School.” It’s so exciting! The construction phase is on schedule and should begin in March. In September 2004, the APE decided to review the school’s emergency procedures, including items such as communications with parents, facilities, drills, first aid, food, water, etc. We convened a sub-committee to study the issue. The sub-committee’s findings were surprising, and rather disturbing. Although the school has established procedures to safely evacuate the students from the building, there is no procedure in place to provide for them following a disaster. The conclusion: there’s a considerable amount of work to be done to meet the standards of the BC Preparedness Emergency Program. For more information on this topic, visit the following websites: www.pep.be.ca and www.bced.gov.be.ca/capitalplanning/schoolearthquakesafetyguidebook.pdf . We will conduct a fundraising campaign in February to collect money to purchase basic equipment (water, food, tents, tools, etc.). It’s a big project, but we will succeed. There are lots of other activities, but you’ll have to wait for the next issue... oe) Mise a jour des dossiers ____Parent’s Federation Update Les racines de l’empathie The Roots of Empathy =F] a p w : | : .
