-2- The Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Board of Directors endorsed CHRA’s efforts at its recent Board of Directors meeting in Campbell River, British Columbia. We therefore ask that your representative at the FCM Annual Meeting be encouraged to take part in the general debate on social housing at the opening session of the CHRA Annual Congress. .Both meetings are taking place at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montréal. The FCM Annual Meeting is from June 5 - 8, 1992 and the CHRA Annuai Congress is from June 10 - 13, 1992. For your information, we have enclosed the CHRA congress program. In the meantime, we cannot remain silent or it may be taken for assent to the cuts and to a withering away of the vital Federal role in housing. CHRA is ensuring that all Members of Parliament, Senators, municipal councils, and organizations with an interest in access to affordable housing have a copy of the enclosed resolution developed by CHRA for FCM. We are urging all parties that they consider this resolution and raise the issues posed by it in their sphere of influence. If your municipal council has passed such a resolution or is considering such a resolution in the near future, we ask that a copy be sent to CHRA. Thank you for your consideration of this request. If you have any questions or concerns regarding CHRA’s strategy, please do not hesitate to contact CHRA Executive Director Sylvia Haines at (613) 594-3007. Bill ‘Todd, President
