The Council of the City of Port Coquitlam is offering a new service to
the taxpayers. Starting in July 1988 the City will accept payments
towards taxpayers’ 1989 tax bill. If a taxpayer chooses, these payments
may aitomatically be charged to a taxpayer's bank account monthly with
the first prepayment due July 15th 1988 or payments may be made anytime
over the counter at City Hall. The City will pay tax-free interest on
the balance in a taxpayer's account, this interest will be compounded
monthly. The tax till that is mailed in May of every year for payment
early in July will show the amount paid with accrued interest and a
balance ouing. The taxpayer will be responsible for making the final
payment in July of every year and for claiming the Home Quner Grant, if
applicable. Taxpayers will still have to make the final payment before
the due date to avoid a penalty. This plan is open to all taxpayers,
residential, commercial and other.
