RECOMMENDATION:

That the petition from residents In the Hastings Street/
Patricia Avenue area be received for information and that no changes
be made in the proposed new bus routes for Port Coquitlam.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

Attached is a copy of a patition which was received trom
residents in the area of one of the new bus routes belng Implemented
by B.C. Transit. The Works and Services Committee considered a report
from the City Engineer which is also attached addressing the new bus
routes, The Committee recognizes the needs of genior citizens,
single-car families, and others who have no access to a vehicle, and
is not prepared to recommend denying these people the ability to get
access to a bus route even though many people will not use the bus and
do not want It, |
