Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That an amendment be made to Sign Regulation By-law No. 1661 to permit flashing signs on the commercial property fronting on the Lougheed Highway and on Shaughnessy Street. Carried. Aldermen Gates, Ranger and Wright voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Ranger proposed the following amendment: Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Wright: Provided Council is prepared to suffer the consequences. Defeated. Aldermen Ranger and Wright voted in favour of the amendment. Alderman Traboulay stated the amendment was of a frivolous nature and should not have been allowed and to this Alderman Keryluk agreed. Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That as recommended by the City Administrator, March 14th, 1980 Chief Building Inspector, Mr. N. Chernoff, be given permission to attend the Conference of the Building Inspectors’ Association of British Columbia to be held in Kelowna, B.C. from April 30th, to May 2nd, 1980; AND THAT all. his necessary expenses incurred therewith be paid by the City. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as recommended by the City Administrator, March 14th, 1980 Fire Prevention Officer, Mr. Les Schumacher, be given permission to attend the Fire Prevention Officers' Association Seminar to be held in Cranbrook, B.C, from June 3rd, to June 6th, 1980; AND THAT all his necessary expenses incurred therewith be pald by the City.
