wae OCOUNC JUN 27 1977 TO: Mayor and Council June 24th, 1977 FROM: L.D. Pollock City Administrator Re: Neighbourhood Watch Programme I have been informed that a Federal Government he .pproved funding in the amount of $10,267. for a Neighbourhood Watch 1 cogrammé under the Summer Job Corp Programme. The Programme is commonly known as "Operation Identification and consists of engraving personal property to enable identification in case of theft and also it will involve engraving certain merchandise at the time of sale as a customer service. The Programme has been organized with the co-operation and full endorsement of the local R.C.M.P, The Federal participation covers all of the staff costs and certain employee benefits, however, it does not cover transportation costs. In this regard, the organizers have obtained a car from Metro Motors, free of charge, and the two Municipalities have been asked to provide the cost of gasoline and oil. This is expected to amount to approximately $200. (Our share will only amount to approximately $65.) These expenses can be covered under Crime Prevention in the R.C.M.P. Budget. I expect that the organizers will be issuing publicity shortly covering the operation of the Programme and Council may wish to pass a resolution adding their endorsement to the Project and approving our share of the expense. we ee CGO ONE Cottle eam Pee Lo.
