CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM — YEAR END SERVICE REPORT - 1976

This is a summary of the performance of the animal control facility in the
City of Port Coquitlam for the year 1976:

a) the number of complaints experienced in 1976 were exactly the same
as in 1975, however, tha number of animals impounded was reduced from 593
to 422.

b) the number of animals claimed in 1975 was 356, in 1976, 228, this
reduction from 60 percent to 54 percent indicates that we are now getting
rid of the irresponsible dog owner.

The number of dead animals picked up in 1975 was 66, this year 61, however,
the reduction of animals destroyed as surplus to human requirements tas
dropped from 304 to 179, this may be significant with the introduction «ot
the Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic and only time will prove whether tiis
wishful thinking is a fact.
