SUBJECT: Municipal Productivity Data Base.

RECOMMENDATION:

That Council request the G.V.R.D. to axplore the attached Port Moody
recommendation and report back to the City including expected coasts of
maintaining the data base and the type of information to be gathered.

BACKGROUND _& COMMENTS:

See attached request from the City of Port Moody,

There is no doubt that some comparison financial information would be

of some assistance both as a general comparison with other municipalities
as well as evaluating the performance of our individual departments.
Before I could wholeheartedly support this type of recommendation I would

need to know!

1) What - type of information they would gather?

Would the data gathering be limited to producing per capita costs or
would each function be compared according to a measurement which bes
fits, te ~ garbage costs would be based on cost per pick up er cost par
ton not per capita, soccer field meintenace costs on so much per acre?

What would our costs be?

Would our costs be a small amount from the G.V.R.D. or would there be a
large cost involved in reprogramming our computer to produce information
