B14 - The Terrace Standard, Wedivesday, October 12, 1994 Birthday wishes © go out to many THIS WEEK I am sending out very belated 86th birthday greetings for Mr. Karl Kaul- beck on Sept. 2. Linda Juba over at Safeway called Mr. Kaulbeck to come down to the store that day. When he arrived with his daughter Susan, everyone sur- prised him with the singing of the Happy Birthday song. Everyone then enjoyed a piece of the delicious birthday cake made by the staff in the bakery. Mr. Kaulbeck was very touched with the special atten- tion given him by all the store’s employees. kkkik DEEPEST SYMPATHIES go out to Bridget Fortin on the death of her husband, Henry Fortin. Henry passed away on Sept. 25, 1994 at Terraceview Lodge. Henry over the years living in Terrace had contributed greatly to the community. He was a very dedicated mem- ber of the Knights of Columbus. He served as past Grand Knight, State deputy, trustee, financial secretary and was a founding member. His many hours of carpentry work can now be seen throughout Sacred Heart Church and Veritas School. He contributed many hours of volunteer work to Sacred Heart Parish. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Henry is survived by his wife Bridget, daughter Mary, and son Reginald of Terrace. Our bless- FROM B13 Centre helped “Katie continued as a client of the CDC, receiving physio-, oc- cupaitonal and speech/language therapy. When she was two and a half she began attending the CDC’s Preschool. The Preschool’s teachers worked with the therapists to de- velop a program of activities that would continue to stimulate Katie's development. Katie had great fun playing in the gym, singing, listening to storics, cutting and gluing, play- ing in the playhouse, going on field trips, and swimming in the pool. All the kids at the Child Development Cenire were just that — kids. Sure they all had delays or special needs of one kind or another, but they were kids first and were treated as such. She loved preschool, which she attended until she was 5 and teady to start Kindergarten. Now Katie is almost 10. She is in Grade 3 at Uplands Elementary School. She will alwyas have low mus- cle tone, and has to work extra hard to do anything physical, but she keeps up with her classmates in most areas. I’m convinced that the early in- tervention Katie received at the Terrace Child Development Centre (as well as her own determination) has given ber the foundation for a successful life. | WIMAX 600 COMIN’ AT YOU’ out to see some beautiful: fall” scenery this Autumn, why not ride to Prince Rupert on the train?
