New church to spring up

GROUND WAS broken last Fri-

day evening for a new Seventh
Day Adventist Church in the
Spring Creek subdivision across
the Kalum Lake Road from
Northwest Community College.

The $800,000 structure of
12,000 square feet will contain a
sanctuary for 210 people and an
educational wing of five class-
rooms, Pastor Peter Fritz said last
week.

Those classrooms will be used
during the week for the church's
school which will teach kinder-
garten to Grade 9.

Fritz said the long term goal of
the church js to build a separate
large gymnasium building and a
separate school on the 6.2ha site.

‘*We hope to be in the middle
of November,’’ said Fritz of the
main church construction.

He said the start of construction
marks the end of nearly four
ycars of planning,

The Seventh Day Adventist
Church and school is now located
on Griffiths St. behind the Rain-
bow Motel.
