A birthday poem for Ted

This poem is written for Ted Johnston by his daughter Lamb, of
Prince Rupert.

Ted’s. parents arrived in the Terrace arca in 1905. His father
bought shares’ in a hotel at Lorne Creek 40 miles up the Skeena,
where, at the time, there was a placer mining operation,

. Ted is now in Mills Memorial Hospital. We all hope you can go
home soon.

ODE: TO TED JOHNSTON |

It-was eighty-seven years joday,
you came to Earth in a big way.

| Martha-and Albert, your mom and dad,
‘Were protd of the arrival of their little fad.

Born i in Port Simpson, dawi by tlie sea, ee
You. lived imast of your life in Terrace, B. C.
Times were tough, your childhood shart,
You. worked very young, for your support. .

On January tenth; nineteen twenly ¢glt,-

Marie Desjurdins happily became yaur mate,

During the nextfifty-three years tA your prime, 7
‘You. raised sixteen children — daughters were nine,

Between | nineteen sixty-seven and ninely-one,

You lost your wife, three daughters anda son,
These were thé saddest parts of your life,

‘But yOu: carried on through all your str ife.

You have re, eproduced Jor five generitions,
Your family & is.now @ league.of nations. ©
You're the pillar of strength for our survival,

We continue to grow, ‘with each new arrival.
