TERRACE — On the south side of Terrace local residents wil soon be able to take a break at the Little Break Cafe. Co-owners of the restaurant Sandra Beggs, her husband Patrick and Patrick Garcia will form the entreprenurial team. Garcia is a qualified chef who has been in the business of cooking meals for people about 20 years now. He recent- ly moved to Terrace from Merritt, B.C. Garcia and team- worker Sandra will be manning the operation with Sandra serving tables and preparing homemade food such as soups, muffins, pies and other baked goods. Garcia will have a variety of dinner menus available to hungry customers. His specialties include seafood dishes, pepper steak, fillets and a house favorite guests will have to taste to believe. The restaurant will seat 40 customers and is scheduled to open no later than May 5. Hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Mon- day to Saturday and from 8 a.m until 9 p.m. on Sunday. The cafe is located at 4711 Keith Avenue in the All West Centre. Garcia noted that there is ‘‘really no place for people to go for cof- fee on the south side of Terrace after 6 p.m.”’ ‘They always have to go overtown,”’ Sandra added, ‘‘The response we’ve been get- ting from people on this side of town has been great.’’ She pointed out that some business peo- ple don’t go out for lunch if they only have | haif an hour break as it is too far to travel to city center establishments. The Little Break Cafe will be able to provide local residents with a convenient option for dining out. For more information contact the Little Break Cafe at 635-7248. Onand Off Scientists at the University of California, Berkeley have identi- fied for the first time a protein responsible for triggering agene toturn on and off during develop- ment. The finding reveals another piece in biology’s biggest puzzle: what directs different genes to turn on at different times and sites within the body. The result of this molecular *'decision’’ makes all the differ- ence—blood cells instead of brain cells, for example, or eyes instead oflegs. In the past few years molecular biologists have scrutinized vari- ous “control” signals in DNA, the code-bearing molecular, that somehow enable nearby genes to order copies of themselves—the first crucial step in regulating all - Hfle processes.
