Downstream improvements to Cedar ditch - widening and new culvert at Huber, and 2. Dyke improvements to prevent over-topping at Fraser, Evergreen i Park, etc.; AND THAT the sum. of $100,000.00 be piaced in tue 1981 Provisional Capital Budget for this work, | Carried. - NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Gates referred to a recent meeting of the Lower Mainiand Municipal Association and advised that he had had the opportunity to speak to Ministar of Municipal Affairs William Vander Zalm concerning the proposed commuter rail route and had been advised that Mr. Vander Zalm supports an initial Maple Ridge destination for the commuter train. Alderman Traboulay referred to the current labour negotiations and expressed alarm at statements made by certain members of other area municipal councils. : Alderman Mabbett referred to intersection of Lougheed Highway and Westwood Street adjacent to the Poco Place development and suggested that left turn lanes on Westwood Street were required. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Lreboulay: That the District of Coquitlam be urged to support the City of Port Coquitlam in requesting the Provincial Government to install left turn lanes on Westwood Screet at the Lougheed Highway. Carried. Mayor Laking referred to the current labour negotiations and advised that the City's senior administrative staff had been instructed by the Council to expedite a return to the negotiating table.
