Alderman Wright asked regarding safety of the access and egress of the underground parking and the Fire Chief advised there is one access for vehicles but at least two required for the residents. Alderman Mabbett asked regarding a security door for the underground parking and the City Planner advised he will bring this concern to the developer's attention. At 7:45 p.m. the Public Hearing adjourned. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Wright: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on February 4th, 1980 be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS: His Worship Mayor G.&k. Laking introduced Mr. F.G. Moore, Head Property Representative of Chevron Canada Limited, and Mr. Peter Southward, of the Whitehall Service Station who then spoke to Council regarding the conversion of the Whitehall Service Station to a self-serve station. Moved by Alderman Wright: Seconded by Alderman Gates: That the application made by Mr. Peter Southward of the Whitehall Service Station, 2079 Loughecd Highway, for conversion to a self-serve gas station be approved. Defeated. Aldermen Gates and Wright voted in favour of the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution discussion ensued and Alderman Ranger expressed his opposition to the proposed application. Alderman Traboulay asked for clarification on the success of self serve stations rather than full service stations and the applicant, Mr. P. Southward, advised the self service stations had been proven to be more successful than the full service. Aldermen Wright and Gates spoke in favour of the application.
