Nicole Robinson had a little
problem with flying. She was:
totally terrified of it. In fact she
stayed close to home for.about

eighteen years.

Her fiancé was doing a lot of

travelling however, as he played

lor the Vancouver Canucks hockey

farm team. A rendez-vous was set

and she was given her tickets. “We
hadn't seen cach other in four months. ..so basically [had no choice except to fly.”
Fortunately the AirBC crew did what they do best, making people [cel totally com-

fortable. “I saw the AirBC steward and he smiled and said hi, The pilot smiled as
well, The steward talked to me about where | was going and how [ was feeling and ”

Unity Day

~ MORE THAN 150 students,
parents and teachers turned out
Nov. 1 as the Gitwinksihlkw
Elementary School hosted a
_ Unity Day luncheon feast at the
~ Gitwinksihlkw community hall.
"Unily Day is celebrated each
Nov. 1 in the Nass Valley to note
the togethemess of the four valley
" villages of Kincolith, Greenville,
Gitwinksiblkw and New Aiyansh,
says Gitwinksihlkkw Elementary
- School principal Lorna Azak.
- The day is also held to note the
> Taising of a totem pole in the
-1970s ‘in front of the secondary
school in New Aiyansh.

Each of the Nass Valley’s four
tribal groups are represented on
the pole as a sign of unity and of
the creation of the Nisga’a School
District, Azak added.

The more than 50 students of
the Gitwinksihlkw school spent
the day before the feast preparing
