SASKATCHEWAN HOUSE ASKS H-WEAPON B REGINA Following a three-hour debate last week in which 10 MLAs took the floor, the. Saskatchewan legislature unani- mously went on record for abolition of all nuclear weapons. The resolution was moved by Arnold Feusi (CCF, Pelly) and seconded by Depster Hemming (CCF, Moose Jaw). It reads: “That this Assembly urges the government of Canada fo inten- sify its efforts to achieve world disarmament by mutual consent, together with abolition of the use, possession and manufacture not only of all nuclear weapons but also of all other weapons of mass destruction to the end that the marvellous new forces made available to man may be used for welfare not warfare and that peace may be based on the solid foundation of mutual understand- ing and cooperation.” The action was taken twe weeks .after close to 200 dele- gates from all “parts of Saskat- chewan had visited the degisla- tive buildings in a lobby called by Saskatchewan Peace Council, during which 14 MLAs, includ- ing several cabinet ministers, signed the World Appeal against the Preparations for Atomic War.
