Vancouver is a young and dynamic city: its history has always had a

tremendous impact on British Columbia destinies.

Today, we celebrate our 100th birthday.
As Mayor and on the behalf of the City of Vancouver, I send my warmest

wishes to our Francophone community.

I wish the Société Historique Franco-Colombienne the best success in its
invaluable project of documenting, for scientific, educational and socio-
cultural purposes, the two hundred years of Francophone history here on the

Pacific Northwest Coast.
