TERRACE — <A Prince Rupert
company is planning on in-
troducing river rafting trips on
the Exchamsiks. River west of
the city later this month.

North Coast Heli-Raft
Adventure Ltd. will fly people
up by helicopter so they can
drift down in unguided two-
person or four-person rafts,
says spokesman Barry Prince.

He said the helicopter trip up
will take 13 minutes and the trip
down four to four and a half
hours,

“We figure we can do eight
(heligapter trips a day) and we
:  alreddy have 300 peaple in

The Exchamsiks is a slow-
flowing river. and the rafts are
designed for. more stringent
conditions, he added.

wants to do its part to increase
the business of B.C. wineries.

It’s semt away for cards that
people going out to eat can fill
out. and leave al restaurants.

The cards state that the peo-
ple enjoyed their meal but
would have appreciated a
greater selection of B.C, wines.

The cards are the creation of
Okanagan chambers of com-
merce members and were on
hand at the provincial
chamber’s recent annual general
meeting.

Nisga’a market
claims software |

Tribal Council wants to market
a computer-based information
system its developed for land
claims negotiations to other
tribal groups. °

It’s Nisga’a GIS (Geographic
Information System), and . it
permits fast and accurate gives

“We have five other. tribal
organizations already in-
terested,” says Gary Patsey Jr.,
one of two people . who
developed the system.

Patsey, trained in computer
use, and Ralph - Robinson, a
forester, adapted three software
packages. purchased from a
Richmond firm to come up with
Nisga‘a GIS. .

“In today’ s fast. paced world,

there’s a need for fast: retrieval

of information. Paper, maps
and rulers’ are.too archaic and
too slow,” said Patsey. .

“‘Nisga’a GES facilitates that
information by having it in one
place, the computer, al one
time,” he continued.

“Tr’s important to know what
you have when you negotiate {a
land claim),"” Patsey said.

What the system does is pro-
vide information such as tree
species and quantity to.a par-

ticular piece of land and attach - on
- it to a map of the location. : oo
