epee acs | Circulation drive going to Jan. 31 We're back. It’s been a longer than usual break between our year-end issue and this, our first issue of 1986, but as you can see, we’re off and running again, with cov- erage of the school board elec- tion, the campaign against the renewal of the NORAD agree- ment and the labor movement’s stand against cuts to unemploy- ment insurance. We’re hoping to see a lot of new readers signed up _as we begin a new year. The 50th anniversary circula- tion drive was to wind up Jan. 15 but because of the holiday break and to give people a chance to take advantage of our special offer on Fighting Heritage (see below), we’ve extended the drive to Jan. 31. _ We’ve only had the first ship- ment of Fighting Heritage for a couple of weeks but already the sales are brisk. Produced for the 50th anni- versary last year, it is 159 pages of this province’s militant labor his- tory: The On-to-Ottawa Trek by Hal Griffin and Sean Griffin; Bloody Sunday and the Post Office Sitdown by Steve Brodie and Maurice Rush; the Battle of Ballantyne Pier by Fred Wilson; the Corbin Strike by Sean Grif- fin; and Born in Struggle, the early history of the Pacific Trib- une by former editor Hal Griffin. There are also 32 pages of black and white photos as well as an Our $4 book-sub deal appendix of original documents from the period. It sells for $5.95 at bookstands — but if you bring in a new one- year subscription to the Tribune, we'll knock the price down to $4 as part of the special circulation drive offer. For an even better deal, you can take Fighting Heritage together with Ben Swankey’s But that is just two weeks away —and we’ve got some dis- tance to go if we’re to achieve the target of 500 new subs. We’ve made a good start with 301 new subscriptions in to date as well as 412 renewals, but we need an extra push over the next 14 days to bring us closer to that target. Extended with the drive is the introductory offer for new sub- scriptions which, at $2 for three months is one of the best news- paper bargains around. Or you can take it for one year at $14, for two years at the reduced rate of $25 and for three years at a further discount rate of $35. We’re counting on you to help us begin 1986 with more readers than ever before. fin new book, The Tory Budget for the special reduced price of $8 for the two — once again, with a new, one year subscription. (Please note the offer does not apply to introductory subs.) Even if you can’t drum up a new sub, you'll want to get your copy at the regular price of $5.95. It’s available from the Tribune office and Co-op Books. You can also have it mailed to you but please add 60 cents for postage.
