3. In conclusion, this report Is provided as background
information about what services GVYRD are providing. The
services are found to be of value to the Planning Department.

G.V.R.D. Development Services provide analysis and data that

would not be avallable otherwlIse.

Fiscal benefit Is difficult to assess, because a number of
activities and information provided by GVYRD would otherwise not
be carried out, eg. demographic projections, sophisticated
economic development and transportation planning. if the City
were to carryout any one of these Items the cost would be
simittar to what ts paid by GVRD as a whole, because of staffing

and consultant costs.

Services provided by GVRD that could be replaced are the land
use data and maintenance and purchasing Statistics Canada Census
information. No marginal cost has been projected for data
collection as It would be reflected tn Slower work production.
The Census Information will probably cost about $5,000. With
regard to the demographic projections, economic development and
transportation planning, their baseline costs are estimated to
be in the $100,000 range for each activity.
