Hydro Overhead Wire Relocation Prograrn should be investigated. - Facade Improvements Simultaneously with the approval of public works, businesses can and are éncouraged to participate in a parallel incentive program of store front facade improvement. . Following approval of the revitalization plan, facade treatment guidelines can be prepared and a Facade Grants program can be implemented for administration through the City's building department. Applicants for facade grants must make improvements to exterior walls that face public streets, land or parking areas, or private and/or parking areas that the public has access to. The grants are given after improvements have been completed and if certain criteria have bee met. Building facade improvements must be part of an approved municipal design concept or promotion and marketing concept. The facade grant amount is 20% of the cost of the private ground flsor facade improvements up to a maximum of $200 per metre. If a building has frontage on a side street or other public passageway, 50% of that frontage can be added into the total for the purpose of determining the value of grants that are available for that building.
