DEPARTMENTAL POLICY ~ ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT POLICY NO: 11 DATE OF ISSUE: August 9, 1982 SUBJECT: Work on Private Property APPLICATION : All Engineering Department Employees POLICY STATEMENT: A. Work for the Benefit of the City No employee shall undertake any work on private property for the benefit of the City unless a statutory right-of-way exists in favoe of the City or unless the owner or his agent has signed a release in the form attached as Schedule "A", B. Work for the benefit of the Property Owner 1. Emergencies Where immediate action is necessary ta prevent damage to private property and the City is in a position to help, the City may, provide assistance in the form of manpower or materials provided that the owner or his agent has signed a release in the form attached as Schedule "B" agreeing to indemnify the City from the cost of the work if the problem was not the responsibility of the City. 2. Non-Emergencies With the exception of the special cases listed below, no employee shall provide any materials nor undertake any work on private property for the benefit of the property owner. Special cases: a. To deposit common fill material where a valid application has been received in accordance with Official Council Policy. 30
