Nearly the end ot another month already and 1 had better try for at least two of | these letters each month, especially wi en I am so far behind with personal correspondence. ; . This past week we enjoyed -a visit from Tracy Skead, 8 former neighbour of ours at Nass Camp. Tracy’s present home is a log cabin that he happened to build for us on - the property near Aiyansh. d Vie : He an «bad previous e ence 8 buildin on Mount Hiedley and Cabin” Mountains, during the time when both were working on the con- servation of the mountain goats in those areas. We never did find out the name . of the other mountain 50 gave it the cabin nickname. While here, Tracy and Vic went hunting with John Meyers and the Jatter managed to shoot a nice buck. Tracy was able to get himself one a few days later though, so packed home enough meat to do him for several months ahead, John Meyers worked for Twin River Timber Ltd. at one time too, then came to work for MacMillan Bleedel. He did leave here ta work al Gold River for awhile, but bas now returned to the Islands and is once again down at Justkatla. John had a second plane damaged not long ago when a sudden, unexpected wind storm upended the plane and eaused damage to a wing. Arrangements were being made for Tracy to tow the plane for John, from Prince upert to Vanderhoof. However at this time I am not quite sure as to whether this has been done yet. Earlier this month my sister managed to come up for a four day change of scene. She was ac- companied by our mutual cousin, Gordon Scott, owner of Gordon C, Scott Antiques at 1035 Fort Street in Vic- toria, B.C. The last time Gordon managed to visit us we were living at Kitimat, B.C. so it had been almost twenty years since -he had made a trip up north. During their visit we had a full schedule of activities. One of the new teachers from Edmonton, who had “eromised to’ have: her usband cook usa Chinese dinner when he came out for his visit, It so happened the Chinese dinner was scheduled for the Friday when .the visitors arrived from Victoria. While Hon Wong was busy cooking, his wife Lucy and I made Won Tons. Must say I seemed to have trouble folding these ‘little things properly, but they were so good eating later that it was certainly well worth the extra effort. We enjoyed them deep fried. These particular Won Tons were filled with a mixture of chopped chicken and crab. The little things the mixture goes into can be purchased already made, and they are ” put together with raw egg yolk ter being folded-over properly. ‘These were served - fore the full meal. On the Saturday evening we all went to the Volunteer Firemen’s Annual Ball. This was the first large dance to be held in the new Com- munity Hall, Musie for this occasion was not quite as damaging to the ear drums ‘ag it had been in the smaller See Gay banquet room when the same group had played. Vie. was able to stay until after the intermission, during which times many things are auctioned oif to. raise money. for the group. However, when the music started’ up again, he could not contend any longer with the loud: vibrations. I am ~ told that many: people who have--already suffered hearing «loss, find them~- _ selves similarly affected by the loud music of today. _ When Vic ‘left, .I remembered I had a ey to the house, so decided to hurry after him with. the key. In hurrying I got past the dancers alright, then tripped | somehow over somebody's foot and eprawied headlong to the (cor, However, [ got the key to Vie! After 1 returned to the table [ noticed part of my right hand was green — then Tanls had Ed take me to Emergency as. she figured I had broken a blood vessel, She was right. For the rest of the evening J kept ice on«the spot and that really worked, as by next.) - - day everything looked to be back to normal there. All the rt of the hand that had hit ie floor later. turned a bruised black. The ‘only : dined here, previously, .; pull Letter from Masset, ~ Queen Charlottes -By Elvira Bryant viier damage has no doubt been to my back, and since I have now been feeling some aches and pains in that area, Iam debating about goin out for chiropractic, ad- justments, It seems there is always something. Eventually our weather came back to the Misty Islands patterns, but that was after we had so many lovely days of sunshine so we must nat complain, The frost was heavy enough to finish off the dahlias that had not been blooming for very many weeks. The “Pepsi people’’ decided this year to sponsor a badminton tournament for high school pupils and for awhile it looked as though we might he sending, five girls down. However, the sum of fifty dollars does not go far towards the expenses at would be encountered. Also it did not seem as though there was enough time for the girls to prac- tice. So October 22 went by without anyone attending from the Charlottes. Whether the Mackenzie area won by default then, I do not know, but the ‘Pepsi people” did intend to pay all of the expenses for whomever won the B.C. championship and went on to play in Alberta. : ‘omorrow the pupils of G.M. Dawson will be having a day off, as the. staff is getting together to discuss. making a change in our esent Semester system. y the next letter there should be more to say about this matter. Apparently it will mean many hours of planning .and will entail many more hours of arranging new courses. The hope seems to be that more elective choices will be the result. . Yesterday the Woodes garbage can. When it was nice the previous weekend I anted some of the spring Ibs, but so far IT am waiting for the larger order of bulbs from back east. Somehow this particular package must have come in on every delay that was sponsored by the postal workers. We were all quite shocked to read in the latest Herald about Ron Jephson's sudden death. Our sympathy is extended to his wife and family, but adjusting to such a loss takes much time. Anyone who suffers such a loss would be well rewarded by reading Franklin Loehr's “Diary after Death’. Rev. Loehr apparently wrote this book for such a purpose. A different slant on reincarnation is given in Susy Smith’s “The Book of James”. James does state that “Truly successful marriages on earth usually continue after death". Two interesting jtems from this book that Intrigued me were as follows: “The child should learn to say each morning as soon as he opens his eyes: ‘Today I will be happy all day long.’ Nothing Sr gaag_penive e. beg of positive thinking, . The other item concerned babies and this is one smal) section: “Once you accept the fact that no aby has a sense of . awareness until birth, you will be able to consider the idea of abortion without so many qualms, Abortion does not remove a conscious human being.
