Re: - THE CORPORATION. OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM PWC -~2-- June 4/81 is from International Harvester for a cost of $45,421.00 including tax. The supply of the packer body to go with the above cab and chassis produced five tenders as shown on the attached recap sheet. The lowest tender with the Dempster body was also International Harvester at a price of $26,536.70 including a front-mount pump option. If the Heil body is chosen there are three identical quotes at a total cost of $26,260.27 including a front-mount pump option. There is a total difference of about $276.00 between the Dempster body and the Heil body. The Dempster body is recommended as a better purchase due to larger hopper capacity, larger packing capacity, heavier steel used in the body, longer warranty, and faster recycling. The Committee recommends that we award the tender for. the truck and packer to. International Harvester at a total cost including the Dempster packer and front pump option of $71,947.50. A sum of $75,000.00 was providea in the Budget for this purchase. ITEM IV Re: No Parking Signs in Lane behind McAllister Plaza. The By-law Officer has been regularly ticketing vehicles parked in the lane behiné McAllister Plaza. Vehicles are parked on the east side of the lane in such a way as to block entry and exit from the parking stalls which are part of the McAllister Plaza. The By-law Officer had requested signs to reinforce our by-law which prevents any parking in any lane. It is not normal practice to put No Parking signs in lanes although there are some places in the City which have them. The Committee recommends in this case that the signs be installed because it is a commercial area and a number of the vehicles using the lane and parking in it are commercial vehicles.
