THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COTITIAK i a BY-LAW NO. 1749 F U CI [ A By-law to amend the "City of Port Coquitiam Sign By-law MAY 25 1980 1979, No. 1661". The Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: 1. The definitions of "SIGN, ILLUMUNATED"; "SIGN, ANIMATED"; AND "SIGN, FLASHING"; contained in Section 1 of the "City of Pert Coquitlam Sign By-law, 1979, No. 1661" are repealed and the following substituted therefor: . . "*SIGN, ILLUMINATED’ means and includes a sign designed to give forth any artificial light, either directly from a source of light | incorporated in or connected with such sign, or indirectly from an artificial source." “"SIGN, ANIMATED’ means and includes an illuminated sign which exhibits changing or moving colour effects achieved by the use of individually flashing light bulbs or flashing light bars or otherwise and maintained at a constant intensity of illumination; or a sign with moving letters, symbols or changing messages." | "'SIGN, FLASHING' means and includes an illuminated sign which contains flashing lights or exhibits noticeable changes in light intensity but does not include an animated sign which achieves its animation by the use of individually flashing light bulbs or flashing light bars." 2. Section 14 of the by~law is amended by adding, after clause (1), the following as clause (m): “"(m) rotating or revolving signs, or partly rotating or partly revolving signs shall not be permitted in any zone." 3. Clause (b) of Section 6 of Schedule "C" of the By-law is repealed and the following substituted: "Cb) (1) Except as provided in sub-clause (ii) hereof no animated signs shall be permitted in any zone. (ii) Signs erected on property fronting on the Lougheed Highway or on Shaughnessy Street may be animated providing that the property on which such sign is erected 1s zoned C-2, C-3, C-4 or CS-1."
